Pet Portrait Dog process… #4

Using the photography reference which is usually sitting right next to where I am painting. I lay-in light washes of where I see all the shadows on the shapes until I start to see roundness start to appear on the subject. Then begin laying in colors where they appear darkest to me.

I entered this watercolor in the Dick Blick Art Supplies, “Pet Portrait” competition. Here is a link to my entry, please vote for me starting May 23rd (Mon) thru May 30th (Mon).
